Pairing semiprecious gems with jeans isn't an obvious choice, but denim powerhouse Lucky Brand and jewelry designer Melissa Joy Manning make a convincing case for it. The two parties have teamed up on a seven-piece collection of cuffs, rings, and necklaces which takes cues from Manning's signatures - sustainably-sourced raw materials, stones like turquoise and agate, hand-hammering techniques - and delivers them at wallet-friendly prices.
"I really wanted to create a group of work that celebrated our shared inspirations: the color and texture of our natural environment and the freedom of a Western aesthetic," Manning (pictured right) explains.
Whether it's a pair of etched-metal hoop earrings or a stone-encrusted necklace, nothing will run more than $100 when the collection hits stores this January. "I looked at this collaboration as a way to reach a larger audience," Manning adds. "This, I hope, will open the door to educating more people about sustainability in the future."
